Another "no brainer" for your survival bag is a flashlight. Buy more than one as it is important to have a few good sturdy flashlights on hand and even more batteries on hand. It is a good idea to always keep a flashlight handy nearby where you sleep so you can use it to find and gather your bugout bag and gear in the dark when an emergency does arise. Becoming more and more popular are hand crank flashlights that do not require batteries. This is great for storing in your survival kit as batteries have a very limited shelf life.
